This summer in Austin, Legislators made many poor decisions regarding public education. Here are some facts that I want to make you aware of:
* $4 Billion was cut from the public education budget despite an enrollment growth of 80,000 new students.
* This is the first time in 60 years that student growth went unfunded in Texas.
* We may not see the cuts in our local school districts this year but estimated cuts for next year could reach $10 Million for BISD and CSISD.
*Out of all the states, Texas ranks last in the category of dollars spent per student.
Starving public education is NOT in the best interest of Texas’ future! District 14 needs an educator in the Legislature! With your help, I can be a voice for education in the state of Texas!
